PipeGuard™ Lining Systems for accelerated surface erosion and corrosion


The Robotic installation of PipeGuard™ SL5 is an effective method used to prevent flow related corrosion and erosion in high flow velocity piping systems and fittings (tee-junctions and ells). Independent testing mandated by a Local Refiner in Singapore was carried out to validate a 15 year field life of various lining systems subjected to particulate laden flows. RestoLine tested multiple coating systems (glass flake, epoxy, polyurethane and PipeGuard™ SL5 at velocities (>12 m/s) with various concentrations of entrained particulates at impingement angles ranging from 5 - 90°. The PipeGuard™ SL5 lining system exhibited the best abrasion resistance characteristics with the least amount of material loss during 60 day test cycles. The acquired test data allows for RestoLine to provide design calculations to warrant internal lining installations with a design life exceeding 15 years based on operating parameters of the piping system.

The completed application of PipeGuard™ SL5 lining will achieve a very high performance internal coating. The surface finish of the SL5 has a c-factor >130 after installation, the internal coating system has been proven to improve peak efficiency by increased flow rate and reduced power consumption.
